USC Football is Back!  Today I will be talking about the return of USC football! On Thursday afternoon, it was announced that USC football would be returning after being postponed. Like most football fans, I was excited! Fortunately, due to the daily testing system received, the Pac-12 was able to make this decision. However, this decision excites me personally because I work as a student manager for the football team which means I will be joining them soon. There will be football in the fall after all! I remember last spring when spring football was first postponed due to COVID-19. No one could have ever imagined what would transpire afterward. The team had its first practice of the spring and coincidentally the NBA postponed basketball later that day. Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz tested positive for COVID-19 and the league made its decision. This was very important because this was the first major sport to postpone any of its leagues. There was concern starting to arise within th...

I chose to read How I Killed Pluto by Michael Brown because of the interesting title. What does killing Pluto actually mean? I knew I had to learn more and figure out exactly what this meant. I’ve also always had an interest in stars and planets, so I wanted to learn how deep this book would get into that and what exactly it had to do with Pluto . After finishing the book, I’ve learned so much more about Pluto and our solar system. Aside from astronomy and science, I also got an inside look into the life of the author and astronomer, Michael Brown. This made the book much more intriguing because you learned about the author’s passion for astronomy and his personal life aside from work. It was great to read about his experiences with his wife and daughter while at the same time discovering objects in the solar system. One of the biggest things I learned was that the author ended up discovering more than one object out in space. These are things t...

Book 1 Post 1

The first book I decided to read is How I Killed Pluto by Mike Brown. The title captured my attention right away. I knew I had to learn more. I decided to read a quick preview of the book to get an idea about the story and the things I would read. I learned that I would be reading about an astronomer and his work, but at the same time be getting a glimpse of how these things affected his personal life. I knew right away this was something I would enjoy. As a young boy and to this day, I have always been a huge fan of astronomy. It has always interested me to learn more about planets, stars, comets, and so forth. In elementary school, I remember taking field trips to the Science Center in LA. I remember going through the exhibits, but my favorite one was always been the one focused on the stars and planets. This was the book that stood out to me.   After reading a couple chapters and diving into the book, I have really enjoyed it. I think one of the biggest things that stand...

Job Description Final

Finance Intern   This past summer I had the pleasure to work as a finance intern for Abbott. Working in finance and learning more about what goes behind the numbers and finances of a company has always interested me. Abbott is a global medical devices and healthcare company and I had the pleasure of working in their Nutrition division based out of Columbus. Due to COVID-19, I had to work virtually from Los Angeles while my team was in Columbus. My manager was flexible with me and my hours, so the time zone difference did not have an impact on my experience.   As a finance intern in their Nutrition division, I worked closely with the Finance team and with the Third-Party Manufacturers (TPMs). Outside of their own factories, Abbott uses TPMs to help manufacture their products such as Pedialyte, Pediasure, and Ensure. I had the chance to work with the business managers from each TPM to understand their procedures and how they manufacture the company’s products. As an inter...
